Milan held to 1-1 draw by Atalanta despite Leao’s early strike

Milan were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Atalanta, despite Rafael Leao’s stunning solo goal in the first half.

Leao’s effort, ending his Serie A goal drought in style, put Milan ahead. However, Atalanta fought back, with Teun Koopmeiners’ penalty after VAR spotted a handball by Olivier Giroud.

The second half saw both teams create chances, with Carnesecchi making a crucial save to deny Davide Calabria.

Former Chelsea players Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic also came close for Milan, but Atalanta’s defense held firm.

Meanwhile, the match ended badly for Milan, with Leao booked for dissent and Scalvini forced off with a dislocated shoulder.
