Lionel Messi claims third FIFA Best men’s player award

Lionel Messi has clinched the FIFA Best Men’s Player award, surpassing Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the prestigious award.

This marks Messi’s third win, adding to his massive tally of eight Ballon d’Or titles.

Despite his move to Inter Miami in 2023, Messi’s impact has been undeniable, securing the title of the world’s best player.

Meanwhile, Haaland contributed to Manchester City’s victories in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League last season.

Kylian Mbappe on the other hand achieved success with Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 and the Trophee des Champions.

Messi, absent from the event, had his award collected by presenter Thierry Henry, who humorously explained why he will be keeping the award, as he never won it himself.

He also made a playful jab at Tottenham Hotspur, the team supported by fellow presenter Reshmin Chowhury.

“Tonight, someone’s going to have to take the trophy, shall I? “I actually have two reasons for taking it. I never won it so I’ll keep it.

“But you’re a Tottenham fan right? That’s the other reason, you don’t usually get your hands on a trophy so I’ll take this one,” Henry added.
