Yamal’s strike was his 19th goal of the season and extended a remarkable run of form for the teenage forward.

The Spain international had already made headlines the previous weekend by scoring his first senior hat-trick against Villarreal.

Barcelona maintain title Advantage

The victory ensures Barcelona maintain their advantage at the summit of La Liga following Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Celta Vigo on Friday night.

Attention now turns to European competition, with Barcelona set to host Newcastle United in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie on March 10.

Athletic Club will meanwhile resume league action on March 14 when they face Girona FC.
