Lady stabbed to death by house help

Rahab Karisa, a 30-year-old lady, has been stabbed by her house help in Mnarani, Kilifi county, Kenya, following an argument.

On the morning of Thursday, July 20, 2023, Karisa was discovered dead in her chamber. Prior to her passing, she served as the chief officer for Fisheries and the Blue Economy.

An autopsy performed on Friday, July 21, at the Kilifi county hospital revealed that as a result of being stabbed, Karisa had a deep cut that had partially severed her lungs and punctured an artery.

The pathologist concluded that since the effects were irreversible, death was unavoidable. The widower continued, mentioning that his wife would turn 31 on July 22.

Investigations are in progress, according to Fatuma Hadi, the chief of police for Kilifi County, who confirmed the occurrence. Hadi claimed that following the incident, the housekeeper vanished.

“We found the body in the bedroom and it had stabbed wounds. We are currently hunting for the house help who has since vanished,” she said.

According to the police chief, they have important leads that will result in the suspect’s arrest. On Wednesday, July 19, Karisa arrived home after visiting Italy.

A private guard said that the home help jumped over the boundary wall to escape when morning shift security personnel from a private company arrived. The child of the deceased was running away with the house help.

Hadi denied rumors that the suspect killed himself. She claimed that a woman’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in Takauku is not that of the house help.

Hadi said the body found hanging has been identified.

“The body discovered this morning in Takaungu is of a different person. The house help is not even a local but the body found hanging was of a local. What is circulating on social media is not correct,” she said.

Karisa was allegedly murdered after she quarreled with her house help over house expenditure while she was away in Italy.

According to a family member who sorts anonymity, Karisa questioned the house help on why she spent money beyond the agreed budget.

“The house help was not happy and she quarreled with her and stabbed her when she was in bed,” the source said.
