Konate close to Real Madrid move after Liverpool exit confirmed

Ibrahima Konate is reportedly in advanced talks with Real Madrid over a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Liverpool.
The France international is understood to be close to agreeing personal terms with the Spanish giants ahead of a proposed move to the Santiago Bernabéu when his Liverpool deal officially ends later this month.
Contract talks with Liverpool break down
Liverpool confirmed on Sunday that Konate would leave the club at the expiration of his current contract.
Negotiations over a new deal had been ongoing, but discussions eventually collapsed due to differences between the player and the club regarding salary expectations and his market value.

Successful spell at Anfield comes to an end
Konate departs Liverpool after making 183 appearances across all competitions since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021.
During his time on Merseyside, the centre-back helped the Reds win the Premier League, FA Cup and two League Cup titles, establishing himself as a key figure in the defence.
Real Madrid continue Liverpool recruitment trend
If the deal is completed, Konate will become the second Liverpool player in successive summers to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The move would follow the path taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who left Anfield for the Spanish club last year, further strengthening Real Madrid’s squad with proven Premier League talent.
