Iheanacho endorses Finidi George as Super Eagles coach

Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his support for George Finidi to take over as the permanent head coach of the Super Eagles.

His comment comes after the departure of former coach Jose Peseiro, with Finidi taking over as the interim boss, and winning his first game against Ghana in Friday’s friendly.

Under his guidance, Nigeria secured a historic 2-1 win over Ghana, marking their first friendly win against the Black Stars in 18 years.

After the game, Iheanacho, impressed by Finidi’s leadership, believes that the former Nigerian international is well-suited to lead the Super Eagles into the future.

“The coach (Finidi) has done a great job, it’s a short time for him to bring everybody together.

“It’s just only him now. I think he has done a really good job,
Hopefully he will get more chance with the team,” the Leicester City forward added.

Finidi’s first game as interim coach has garnered praise from both players and fans alike, with many recognising him as a potential long-term solution for the Super Eagles.
