“If you don’t want to watch Hallelujah challenge, leave it” —Pastor Nathaniel Bassey

Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, convener of the Hallelujah Challenge, has responded firmly to growing criticism surrounding the global online prayer movement, urging detractors to simply disengage rather than attack it.
Warning against open opposition
Addressing worshippers during a recent session, the gospel minister cautioned against what he described as unnecessary resistance to the Hallelujah Challenge.
He warned that publicly mocking or actively opposing the prayer programme could attract serious spiritual consequences.
Drawing from biblical narratives, Bassey referenced individuals who spoke against divinely inspired actions and suffered judgment, stressing that such examples were not coincidental.
According to him, opposition often follows initiatives that carry deep spiritual weight. “If you don’t want to watch it, leave it alone,” he said, adding that refusal to participate should not translate into hostility.
Praise, power and spiritual authority
Bassey further anchored his message on scripture, quoting Genesis 49:10 to emphasise the authority embedded in praise.
He explained that the tribe of Judah symbolises worship and spiritual leadership, noting that praise attracts both divine attention and resistance.
In his view, the level of pushback against the Hallelujah Challenge reflects its spiritual influence and reach.
He described the movement as more than an online gathering, portraying it as a spiritual altar that has continued to draw millions across nations.
Call for focus and steadfastness
The pastor also issued a stern message to spiritual forces he believes are behind the resistance, urging them to stay away from the movement. He encouraged participants to remain focused, prayerful and undistracted, insisting that criticism should not weaken their commitment.
Bassey concluded by reassuring followers that opposition is often proof of impact, urging them to stay resolute and continue serving God through worship and prayer.
