The groom reportedly explained that he had not budgeted for the additional payment and promised to send the money after returning to Warri.

Despite appeals lasting about two hours, the kinsmen maintained that he should leave if he could not make the payment that day.

Frustrated, the groom approached his bride and said, “As you see me so, na go I dey. If I enter that bus and you no follow me, marriage don end. I no dey come back here.”

As he headed towards his vehicle, the bride reportedly stood up and followed him, prompting her kinsmen to call the couple back and agree that the ₦300,000 could be paid later.

The groom, however, reportedly refused the compromise after becoming upset over the earlier insistence.

He told them, “I no dey pay any extra money. Either we continue this marriage with the original list we agreed on, or the marriage ends here today.”

According to the narrator, the bride, who already shares three children with the groom, went on her knees to plead with her family.

The kinsmen eventually accepted the original agreement, allowing the traditional marriage proceedings to continue without the additional payment.
