Tonto Dikeh speaks on painful past
Recalling her experience, Tonto Dikeh said she was once seen as chaotic and broken, but explained that there was deeper pain behind her actions.
She wrote, “I was once the chaos people judged. The noise. The mess. The broken decisions.”
Dikeh further explained that her addiction did not define her, describing it as an attempt to escape pain she could not name.
She stated, “Drugs weren’t the problem, they were the symptom. Addiction wasn’t my identity, it was my escape from pain I didn’t know how to name.”
Actress urges compassion for people battling addiction
The actress also urged people not to give up on those struggling with drug addiction, stressing that recovery remains possible.
Dikeh said, “So hate the drugs. Hate the addiction. But never stop praying for the person trapped inside it. because that person is not weak, not worthless, not beyond redemption.”
She ended her message by describing herself as living proof that a person can recover from a troubled past and rebuild their life.
