“I thought i was ready for marriage…” — Lady shares shock experience
A woman has sparked online discussion after narrating how a seemingly casual relationship in Lagos quickly escalated into a marriage proposal that made her question her readiness for commitment.

She said the incident happened in 2023, shortly after she returned to Lagos following her graduation from university in December 2022.
According to her account, what began as a normal conversation with a man she met soon turned into intense marriage discussions, including plans to meet her family within months of knowing each other.
“I graduated in December 2022 and came back to Lagos in 2023 just trying to figure out my life. Then I met this guy and we started talking normally. He suddenly said he wanted to meet my people in May and even talked about opening a business for me and taking care of everything. At that point I realized I was not ready at all. It sounded like my life was moving too fast, almost like a threat.”

She explained that the experience made her reflect on how many people assume they are emotionally prepared for marriage until they are confronted with real-life pressure and commitment timelines.
Relationship experts often note that such situations are not uncommon, especially among young adults transitioning from school to career life, a trend also seen in past viral stories where rushed engagements led to last-minute withdrawals before weddings.
