“I left her under the rain” – Man explains why he refused to shelter neighbour’s house help

A Nigerian man has sparked mixed reactions on social media after revealing why he chose not to let her neighbour’s house help into his apartment while it was raining.

In a post shared online, the man revealed that the house help had just returned from school when the rain started, but her employer was not at home.

Man explains his decision

He admitted that she felt uncomfortable leaving the child outside in the rain but decided against inviting her in because he feared the situation could be misunderstood.

He wrote:

“My neighbour’s house help returned from school, my neighbour was not around and it was raining.

“I didn’t offer her to come in and wait.

“I left her under the rain.

“I was not comfortable but I had to do it.

“I don’t want to be in a situation that only me will believe myself.”

Post sparks reactions

His post has since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users saying they understood his concerns about protecting himself from possible allegations.

Others, however, argued that he could have found another way to help the child while ensuring his own safety, especially considering the weather.
