“I just stood up and left” — Lady narrates why she blocked a man after he asked her to cook

A woman has ignited widespread reactions online after ending a budding relationship with a man who had been financially supportive, citing “disrespect” after he asked her to cook during a visit to his home.

The woman, whose account has since gone viral on social media, said she met the man at a university matriculation ceremony where both attended to support their relatives.

According to her, the man approached her, collected her contact, and they began communicating shortly after.

Financial gestures and growing connection

Recounting her experience, she said, “I told him my laptop was faulty, and instead of sending money to repair it, he sent money for me to get a new one.”

She added that the man continued to send her money for personal needs, including funds for hair, nails, and other expenses.

“He kept sending money whenever I complained about something,” she said, noting that their interactions soon progressed into outings, including dates, shopping trips, and a cinema visit.

Cooking request sparks backlash

However, the relationship reportedly took a turn when she visited his residence. “Less than two hours after I arrived, after entertaining me with wine, ice cream and pizza, he told me to cook for both of us,” she said.

“At first I thought he was joking, then he said he was serious that he would like to taste my cooking.”

She explained that she immediately left his home, describing the request as unacceptable, adding that she picked up her bag and left, and later blocked him upon getting home.

She further stated that despite his repeated attempts to reach her through different phone numbers to understand what he did wrong, she was not willing to offer any explanation.

The incident has since triggered mixed reactions online, with some users supporting her stance on personal boundaries, while others criticised her response as extreme given the man’s financial gestures.
