“I gave birth to a baby boy, but they later brought me a dead baby girl” — Woman accuses hospital of baby swap

A woman has accused a hospital of negligence and possible baby swap after claiming that the child she delivered during childbirth was replaced with another baby.

The distraught mother narrated her ordeal online, alleging that she gave birth around 4:35am after being rushed to the hospital by her husband during intense labour.

According to her, the attending nurse informed her after delivery that she had welcomed a healthy baby boy but advised her to rest because she was too weak to hold the child immediately after childbirth.

The woman explained that her husband had briefly returned home to get baby items they forgot to pack before the emergency trip to the hospital.

Family raises alarm after discovery

“This morning, I gave birth around 4:35AM to a healthy child. I later woke up to carry him but he wasn’t breathing. After all the confusion, we suddenly realised it was a baby girl and not the baby boy the nurse earlier announced,” she said.

“My husband immediately demanded a test because something felt wrong. To our shock, the result allegedly confirmed that the baby was not biologically mine. I need the hospital to explain what happened to my child,” she added.

Woman threatens to go public

The mother further revealed that she had battled childlessness for nearly seven years before finally becoming pregnant.

“It’s almost seven years of marriage and waiting for a child. The journey was filled with prayers, pain and hope, so why should this happen to me now?” she lamented.

Cases involving alleged baby swaps and hospital negligence have surfaced in Nigeria and other countries in recent years, often sparking investigations and public outrage.
