“I don’t want to share my…” — Man reveals 5 reasons why he doesn’t want to have children
A man has sparked widespread debate on social media after explaining why he has chosen not to have children, listing what he described as two selfish and three selfless reasons.
In the viral video, he said his decision was based on financial concerns, personal limitations, the uncertainty of life, the state of the world, and the health risks associated with pregnancy.
Man outlines his reasons
The speaker began by admitting that his first two reasons were selfish.
He said he did not want the long-term financial responsibility of raising a child.
“I’m going to give you five reasons why I don’t want to have children. Two of them are selfish, three of them are selfless.”
He added: “Number one, I don’t want to share my money. When you have a child you’re locked into a financial commitment for at least 20 years and that does not sound like a good time.”
He also claimed he could not guarantee he would love every child unconditionally.
“Number two, I might not like the child. I don’t have the capacity for unconditional love… I don’t want someone I don’t like living in my house.”
Concerns about the future
Moving to what he described as his selfless reasons, the man argued that no parent could be certain they would remain alive, healthy, or financially stable long enough to raise a child properly.
He said children often suffer when parents are unable to meet those responsibilities.
He also expressed concern about the current state of the world, saying he did not believe it was a suitable environment for bringing children into.
According to him, he would rather spare a child from facing life’s struggles than knowingly expose them to them.
Finally, he pointed to the health risks of pregnancy, saying he could not justify putting a woman through such dangers simply to satisfy a personal desire to have biological children.
He concluded: “Pregnancies are absolutely dangerous… my egocentric desire to replicate myself is not sufficient reason for me to put anyone in that kind of danger. I simply cannot justify bringing children into this world.”
