“I don’t know what gave me the ginger to…” — Frank Edwards recounts his early attempt to get married

Popular Nigerian gospel singer Frank Edwards has shared a humorous but emotional story about his early attempt to seek a woman’s daughter’s hand in marriage.
The singer revealed that the incident happened shortly after he released his first album, when he became eager to settle down at a young age.
According to him, he gathered the courage to approach a woman and inform her about his intention to marry her daughter.
While speaking in a now-viral statement, Frank Edwards explained that he initially believed the woman was impressed by the way he answered her questions during their conversation.
However, the gospel artist later realised that the woman’s attention was focused on something entirely different.
Woman’s response leaves singer embarrassed
Recounting the moment, Frank Edwards said the woman suddenly asked him in Igbo language: “BIA NNA INA ELIKWA AKWUKWO NNI ?? KEDU EBE MAMA GI NO??”
The statement translates to: “Come young man, hope you eat vegetables, where is your mother?”
According to the singer, the woman’s response came from genuine concern rather than mockery, but it instantly changed the mood of the conversation.
Frank Edwards admitted that he felt embarrassed after hearing the remark, adding that it felt as though “someone poured cold water” on him.
