Good Samaritans rescue newborn baby dumped in a soakaway (Photos)

Good Samaritans have rescued a newborn baby who was dumped inside a soakaway pit at Oyo Avenue, Olorin community in Adiyan, Ogun State.

Reports gathered that some children playing around the soakaway, heard the cry of the baby on Saturday, August 8.

The children quickly informed a woman that a cock had fallen into the soakaway pit but upon investigation, she discovered it was the cry of a baby so she alerted more people.

The sad incident was subsequently reported at the Agbado Police Station and a team visited the scene. A welder helped cut the iron bars covering the soakaway and the baby was brought out.

The baby, believed to be a day old baby due to the appearance of his belly button, was taken to the Oke Aro Health Centre for medical care.
