Giroud ends Milan stint with goal in thrilling 3-3 draw against Salernitana

AC Milan and Salernitana played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, with coach Stefano Pioli, striker Olivier Giroud, and defender Simon Kjaer all saying goodbyes.

The final game of the season at San Siro saw Milan dominate early possessions, causing troubles for Salernitana’s Vincenzo Fiorillo, who saved efforts from Giroud and Rafael Leao.

However, Fiorillo’s error led to the opening goal, as Leao capitalized on a fumbled ball to score.

Olivier Giroud, playing his last game before moving to Los Angeles FC, doubled Milan’s lead with a volley from Alessandro Florenzi’s corner.

Fiorillo kept the scoreline within reach with more saves, while Theo Hernandez had a goal disallowed for offside.

Meanwhile, Salernitana’s Nwankwo Simy brought his team back into contention with a header from a Junior Sambia corner.

Simy nearly equalized again, but Antonio Mirante made a crucial save.

Davide Calabria restored Milan’s two-goal lead with a header from a Christian Pulisic cross.

Giroud received a standing ovation as he was substituted, marking the end of his Milan career.

Salernitana then mounted a late comeback, scoring two quick-fire goals.

Sambia’s low shot found the net through a crowded penalty area, and debutant Milan goalkeeper Nava could only parry Loum Tchaouna’s effort into Simy’s path for a simple tap-in.
