Flick reveals mixed emotions in Barcelona dressing room despite UCL success

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has admitted there was little celebration in the dressing room despite the club securing a place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The Catalan giants lost 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their quarter-final tie at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night but progressed 5-3 on aggregate, thanks to a commanding 4-0 first-leg victory.
Serhou Guirassy’s hat-trick handed Barcelona their first defeat of 2025, but it wasn’t enough to stop Flick’s side from advancing.
Speaking after the match, Flick acknowledged the challenge posed by Dortmund and the subdued atmosphere post-match.
“They were a very good opponent and the atmosphere was tremendous. It’s not easy to play these types of games,” he told Diario AS.
“In the end, we qualified, which was our goal. We won the first leg 4-0 and lost 3-1 here. I think we reached the semi-finals fairly.”
Flick pointed out that while his team struggled in the second leg, the overall result still reflects their quality.
“We are still confident, although we have to admit that they put us in trouble. There is still a long way to go and we are not at the end.
“In the dressing room there was no euphoria. I reminded them that we are in the semi-finals. Then it changed a little and they were happier.”
Barcelona will face the winner of Wednesday’s clash between Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in the last four.
Flick declined to name a preferred opponent: “I’ll sit at home and enjoy the game. I don’t have any favourites.”
