“Even Jesus ignored his mother” – Peller reacts to backlash over Mercedes gift to Jarvis, Hyundai for mum
Popular Nigerian content creator, Peller, has reacted heavily after facing backlash over the luxury cars he bought for his partner, Jarvis, and his mother.
The controversy began days after the influencer gifted his love interest a Mercedes-Benz worth ₦130 million for her birthday, while he had earlier bought his mother a Hyundai said to be worth ₦20 million.
Following the revelation, some social media users criticised Peller, accusing him of prioritising his partner over his mum.
The comparison quickly went viral, sparking heated debates across various platforms.
Responding to the backlash, Peller made a statement that further stirred reactions online.
“People were criticizing me because I bought a Mercedes-Benz for my baby and a Hyundai for my mum. They didn’t know that Jesus saw His mum and ignored her, and He died for the world,” he said.
His biblical reference immediately triggered another round of debate, with many Nigerians questioning the comparison and calling it unnecessary.
While some fans defended him, insisting he has the right to spend his money however he chooses, others argued that dragging religion into the conversation was inappropriate.
One user wrote, “Why involve Jesus in this matter?” Another added, “It’s his money, let him gift who he wants.”
