EPL: Idrissa Gueye issues 60-word apology after red card incident

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has apologised after being sent off for slapping team-mate Michael Keane during Monday’s win over Manchester United.
The 36-year-old was dismissed early in the match at Old Trafford, leaving Everton a man down for most of the contest.

Apology and public statement
Gueye later posted a 60-word statement on Instagram, taking full responsibility for his actions and apologising to Keane, the squad, coaching staff, fans, and the club.
He admitted the incident did not reflect his values and pledged it would not happen again.
“I take full responsibility for my reaction. I also apologise to my teammates, the staff, the fans and the club.
“What happened does not reflect who I am or the values I stand for. Emotions can run high, but nothing justifies such behaviour.

“I’ll make sure it never happens again. UTT.”
Impact on the match
Despite the setback, Everton still secured the victory. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half strike proved decisive, with David Moyes’ side defending resiliently in the second half to claim an important three points.
The win moves the Toffees to 11th in the Premier League, edging ahead of rivals Liverpool on goal difference.
