Lewandowski’s future is up in the air after he made clear he was unwilling to extend his Bayern contract, which expires in the summer of 2023.
Though Barca is targeting a deal for the Bundesliga highest goal scorer, sources say Chelsea FC believe Lewandowski’s decision is a blessing in disguise for them.
Currently, Chelsea is sanctioned and unable to make transfers, which gives Barcelona an edge over them – but that’s projected to end soon, courtesy of Todd Boehly’s takeover.
Another challenge facing Chelsea is the fact that Lewandowski favours a move to Barcelona more than other top teams declaring interests.
Nonetheless, the battle for the striker’s signature is uncertain as well as his next destination.
