Comoros set up 2028 Olympic qualifier clash with Super Falcons after 30-0 aggregate win over Sudan

Comoros will face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the second round of the qualifiers for the women’s football event at the 2028 Olympic Games after recording a stunning aggregate victory over Sudan.
The Coelacanths secured their place in the next round with a remarkable 30-0 aggregate triumph, winning the first leg 17-0 before completing the job with a 13-0 victory in the return fixture.
Nigeria await in second round
Having advanced from the opening round, Comoros now face a far sterner challenge against reigning African champions Nigeria.
The Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s national team, enter the tie as strong favourites and will begin their qualification campaign from the second round.
Nigeria will be aiming to maintain their status as one of the continent’s leading sides as they pursue a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The two-legged second-round fixture is scheduled to take place between October 5 and October 13, 2026.

Super Falcons build momentum
The Super Falcons head into the qualifiers in positive form following back-to-back victories over Senegal in international friendlies.
Justine Madugu’s side defeated the Teranga Lionesses 2-1 in the first meeting before producing a more convincing 3-0 win in the second match at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
The fixtures formed part of Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming international competitions and provided the coaching staff with another opportunity to assess the squad.
Only two African nations will qualify for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games, making the qualification series highly competitive.
