The German giants took control early, with Martin Terrier opening the scoring in the 17th minute. The forward finished a quick counter-attack, assisted by Boniface.
Minutes later, Boniface doubled their lead with a powerful strike from just inside the box in the 30th minute.
Hoffenheim responded through Mërgim Berisha in the 37th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
However, a second goal from Berisha was ruled offside, keeping Leverkusen’s 2-1 lead intact at halftime.
In the second half, Wirtz extended their lead to 3-1 with a penalty in the 72nd minute, and Boniface sealed the win just three minutes later with his second goal.
