Boniface faces extended medical tests before Milan move

Victor Boniface’s transfer to Milan has been delayed as the Nigerian striker undergoes an unusually extensive medical examination, which will continue on Saturday.

The Rossoneri have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to bring in the 23-year-old on loan for around €5m, with an option to make the move permanent for a further €25m.

Boniface began his medical on Friday, completing standard checks at Milan’s facilities and CONI (Italian Olympic Committee) examinations before being sent to the Galeazzi Hospital for deeper assessments.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan even recalled their trusted orthopaedic specialist from vacation to personally evaluate the forward.

Despite those checks, further tests have been scheduled for Saturday morning before the transfer can be finalised.

The heightened caution stems from Boniface’s injury record.

Last season, a series of muscular problems restricted him to just 27 appearances for Leverkusen, though he still managed 11 goals and two assists.

Meanwhile, earlier in his career, he underwent two anterior cruciate ligament surgeries in 2019 and 2020.
