Barcelona step up Rashford move before World Cup

Barcelona are reportedly preparing fresh talks with Manchester United over a permanent move for Marcus Rashford ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The England international spent last season on loan in Spain and impressed enough to convince Barcelona manager Hansi Flick that he should remain part of the club’s long-term plans. Rashford contributed 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances during his spell at Camp Nou.
According to reports from talkSPORT, Barcelona have already agreed personal terms with the forward and are now focused on reaching an agreement with Manchester United over the transfer fee.
United push for permanent sale
Manchester United are reportedly demanding €30 million (£26m) for Rashford and are unwilling to sanction another loan arrangement.

The Premier League side are said to be prioritising a permanent exit as part of their ongoing squad rebuild.
Barcelona sporting director Deco has explored different payment structures, including a loan deal with an obligation to buy later, but United have resisted those proposals.
Rashford’s wages have also reportedly increased following United’s return to the Champions League, further strengthening the club’s desire to remove his salary from the wage bill this summer.
The report added that the forward has little interest in returning to Old Trafford and is keen to continue his career in Spain.
Flick keen to keep Rashford
Flick reportedly considers Rashford a priority target despite Barcelona monitoring alternative attacking options.
The Spanish giants have also been linked with Julian Alvarez and Joao Pedro, although both deals are expected to be more expensive.
Barcelona are now expected to continue negotiations before pre-season begins as Rashford seeks clarity over his future following his inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.
