Who qualifies for Bahrain Golden Residency?
Professionals living in Bahrain
Professionals who have already lived and worked in Bahrain for at least five years and earned an average monthly basic salary of more than BHD 2,000, or approximately USD 5,306.
Applicants must also have been continuously registered with the Social Insurance Organization during that time period.
It is important to note that this calculation only considers the base salary; bonuses, allowances, and other supplementary payments are completely excluded.
Property owners
Property owners are also eligible if the total personal share value of their real estate holdings in Bahrain is at least BHD 130,000, or around USD 345,000.
This threshold can be met with a single property or a combination of multiple properties, as long as the applicant’s combined ownership share equals the required value at the time of purchase.
Retirees
For retirees, the program differentiates between those who already live in Bahrain and those who do not. Residents who have worked in Bahrain for at least 15 years and earn an average pension of BHD 2,000 or more are eligible.
Non-resident retirees face a higher income threshold, requiring an average pension of at least BHD 4,000 (USD 10,624) to qualify.
Talented individuals
The fourth category is broadly defined as talented individuals and includes a diverse range of achievers.
Entrepreneurs who have founded or invested in businesses that drive economic growth or introduce innovation are included, as are researchers, scientists, artists, musicians, writers, and technology innovators whose work has had a tangible impact in their fields.
This category also includes athletes who have won championships, broken records, or represented their countries at the international level.
Bahrain also provides opportunities for others who demonstrate exceptional skill or achievement in areas such as leadership or community service. Applications from talented individuals are reviewed and approved by a specialized talent committee.
The Golden Residency is positioned as a pathway for high-value foreign nationals to permanently settle in Bahrain and contribute to its economy and society on an ongoing basis.
