INEC bows to court order, uploads NDC’s new logo ahead of 2027

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has updated the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, logo on its official portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commission is now displaying the party’s blue-background “Two Fingers Up” logo, featuring a two-finger victory sign alongside the red “NDC” inscription.

The change comes weeks after a Federal High Court in Abuja directed INEC to approve, upload and use the modified NDC logo during elections conducted by the commission.
Why INEC changed the NDC logo
The NDC had taken the commission to court after alleging that INEC initially uploaded the modified logo but later removed it and restored the design used when the party was first registered.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, in the September 8, 2026 judgment, ruled that the modified logo should be recognised as the party’s official symbol.
The design was adopted at the NDC’s first National Executive Council meeting on March 25, 2026.
NDC begins using modified logo
Following the ruling, NDC leaders directed the party’s candidates and members to use the updated logo on campaign materials, including banners.
The appearance of the logo on INEC’s official portal marks the latest development in the dispute and gives the party’s modified symbol formal visibility on the commission’s platform ahead of the 2027 polls.
The development is likely to draw further attention as political parties and their candidates prepare for the next general elections.
