Okonkwo reveals excitement over Nigeria call-up
Speaking to the Super Eagles media team, Okonkwo described the opportunity to play for Nigeria as a special moment in his career.
“It is a privilege to be granted the chance to play for your country. I am extremely excited and eagerly await the opportunity,” he said.

The young goalkeeper added that he had anticipated the moment for a long time while discussions continued behind the scenes.
“I have been looking forward to this moment for quite some time, and to finally have the chance is remarkable,” Okonkwo stated.
Desire to win trophies influenced decision
According to Okonkwo, one of the biggest reasons behind his commitment to Nigeria was his ambition to compete for trophies with the Super Eagles.
“The reason for my decision is that I aspire to win trophies for my country,” he explained.
“I understand how much Nigerians cherish football and how significant it is to them, and being able to contribute to that for my country and my roots would be extraordinary,” he added.
