Arsenal backed to sign Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid

Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham believes Arsenal should consider a surprise move for Trent Alexander-Arnold as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad for next season.
The suggestion comes after Arsenal’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, with attention already turning to how the Premier League champions can improve ahead of the new campaign.
Despite ending a 22-year wait for the league title, Arsenal fell short in Europe and have faced criticism over their attacking approach in key matches.
Sheringham sees creative boost for Arsenal
Sheringham believes Alexander-Arnold’s unique qualities could add a different dimension to Arteta’s side.
Speaking to BoyleSports, the former England international said: “Could we see Trent Alexander-Arnold back in the Premier League?

“Liverpool fans might not want him back so it does narrow down where he could go, doesn’t it.”
While acknowledging that the defender would not appear an obvious fit for Arsenal’s current system, Sheringham feels his creativity could make him a valuable addition.
“He doesn’t immediately strike me as an Arsenal player, to be fair. I think they’re too strong and resilient and work as a proper back four unit.
“But they could make it work for him.”
Arsenal eye further improvement
Arteta’s side enjoyed a successful domestic campaign, finishing ahead of rivals to secure the Premier League title, but the Champions League final loss highlighted areas where improvements could still be made.
Alexander-Arnold has built a reputation as one of football’s most creative defenders, known for his passing range, crossing ability and influence in possession.
Sheringham believes those attributes could help Arsenal become even more dangerous in attacking situations.
Transfer speculation likely to continue
There is currently no indication that Arsenal are pursuing a move for Alexander-Arnold, but Sheringham’s comments are likely to fuel debate over whether the England international would fit into Arteta’s plans.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal are expected to explore options that can help them defend their league title and mount another challenge for European honours next season.
