Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, had quite an embarrassing moment yesterday after he and his Everton teammates suffered a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Goals from Marcus Tavernier, Kieffer Moo,re and Jaidon Anthony gave Bournemouth their second victory over Everton in just five days after their Carabao Cup triumph in midweek. It was also Everton’s sixth defeat in eight matches.

Traveling fans of the English side were angry with the team after the final whistle and made their feelings known when the players trudged over to applaud them.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was seen remonstrating with a number of supporters at the side of the pitch before turning his back and walking away from the situation.

Iwobi also saw his shirt which he gave out being thrown back at him by Everton fans who were in no mood to sympathize with the Toffees squad after yet another hugely disappointing result.

Everton boss Frank Lampard attempted to pacify those in the stands by making a ‘sorry’ gesture, but it did little to calm the fury that was clear to see from the visiting supporters who made a long trip down to Bournemouth to watch a shambolic collective effort from their players.

The police acted quickly and brought the unsavoury scenes under control. Speaking after the incident, Lampard said;

“I wasn’t going over there to comfort the players. There was a misunderstanding, Alex had some friends that he was concerned about that were at the front of the fans. There’s nothing in that.

“The fans are due to say what they want today after that performance. They have come down here twice this week and seen poor performances. We have to understand they can voice their opinions.

“It was unacceptable in terms of the performance and the result. This season is not going to be a glory-story of moving up the league. It is going to be a fight.”
