Ademola Lookman set for MRI after Copa del Rey final injury
Ademola Lookman will undergo further medical assessment after sustaining an injury during Atlético Madrid’s Copa del Rey final defeat to Real Sociedad.
The forward is scheduled for an MRI scan on Monday to determine the extent of an adductor issue picked up during the match at La Cartuja.
Injury concern after strong display
Lookman had been one of Atlético’s standout performers before his withdrawal, scoring and posing a consistent attacking threat.
He was substituted in the 62nd minute after showing signs of discomfort, with initial indications pointing to an adductor strain.
The club is now awaiting scan results to confirm the severity of the injury.
Squad fitness under review
Atlético have resumed training while assessing multiple fitness concerns following the final. Marcos Llorente and Alexander Sorloth are also being monitored after sustaining knocks.
However, Lookman’s condition is currently viewed as the most significant concern within the squad.
Key period raises stakes
The timing of the injury presents a potential setback for Atlético, with the season entering a decisive phase across competitions.
Lookman has contributed seven goals and four assists in 18 appearances.
Atlético remain hopeful that the MRI results will not reveal a serious issue, as they aim to maintain good form in the closing stages of the season.
