2027: Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, 15 others make INEC final presidential candidates’ list

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the final list of 18 presidential candidates and their running mates for Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
The list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, features candidates from 18 political parties, including President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Other prominent candidates include Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Makinde of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Also on the list are Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC), Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Sunday Chibuzo Okereke of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Agada of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and other candidates representing different political parties.
Two women are contesting the presidency. They are Ada Elizabeth Frederick Okwori of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).
Meanwhile, four women appear on the list of vice-presidential candidates. They are Peace Egobia of the APP, Nafisat Usaku of the Democratic Labour Alliance (DLA), Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party and Patience Ndidi Key of the YPP.
According to the published list, the presidential candidates are aged between 35 and 79, while their running mates are between 35 and 80. Atiku Abubakar, listed at 79, is the oldest presidential candidate, while Moses Adebisi Olusoji of the DLA, aged 35, is the youngest.
INEC has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027. The governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
