$135 million Google Android Settlement
Millions of Americans who have used an Android phone in recent years may be eligible for a reimbursement under a $135 million Google Android Settlement deal Google.
The lawsuit claims that Google caused Android mobile devices to communicate a variety of information to Google without the user’s authorization, consuming their paid cellular data. Google denied doing anything illegal, but decided to settle the claim.
How much money can I get from the Google Android settlement?
According to the lawsuit, it is presently uncertain how much each settlement class member will receive, as it is contingent on the number of members successfully paid.
Individual payouts are projected to be minimal, ranging from $1 to $1.50 per person, according to information gathered from The New York Post, with payments capped at $100 each.
How to Qualify for $135 Million Google Android Settlement
To be eligible for the $135 million Google Android Settlement, an individual must live in the United States and have used an Android device to access the internet via a cellular data plan at least once since November 12, 2017.
In addition, people cannot participate in a separate action, Csupo v. Google LLC, which excludes certain users from this settlement. This is a similar lawsuit concerning Californians.
Users can validate their eligibility by contacting the settlement administrator or visiting the official website.
The objection date is May 29, with the final approval hearing slated for June 23.
Google Lawsuit Resolved
Earlier this year, Google agreed to pay $68 million to resolve a class action lawsuit alleging that its voice-activated assistant secretly recorded smart device users, violating their privacy.
The tech behemoth was accused of illegally capturing and publicising private conversations when its Google Assistant feature was activated to give users targeted ads.
In December 2024, Apple achieved a similar settlement with smartphone owners for $95 million over Siri, the virtual assistant.
According to mobile market share estimates, the United States has approximately 117 million Android users, compared to around 200 million iPhone and other non-Android users.
