Zamfara got no money, because I’m not in APC — Gov Lawal accuses FG of bias

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has accused the Federal Government of Nigeria of excluding his state from palliative support following the removal of fuel subsidy.

In a video circulating online, Lawal claimed that Zamfara has not received federal palliative funds introduced to cushion the impact of rising living costs.

He attributed the alleged exclusion to political differences, noting that he belongs to an opposition party rather than the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The governor further alleged that some states governed by the APC had received substantial financial assistance aimed at helping citizens cope with economic reforms.

I know of states that have received over 500 billion Naira from the Federal Government as palliative, but I have never received anything,” the governor said. “I think the reason I don’t get it is because I’m not in APC.”

He stated that Zamfara has had to depend solely on its own resources to implement food distribution and welfare initiatives despite facing significant economic and security challenges.

Lawal maintained that federal palliatives should be distributed equitably across all states, regardless of political affiliation, stressing that citizens should not bear the consequences of political rivalry.
