“You’re a promoter of greed, materialism, lack of contentment” — Pastor Abel Damina blasts Pastor Korede Komaiya

Pastor Abel Damina has publicly criticised fellow clergyman Pastor Korede Komaiya, accusing him of promoting greed, materialism, and a focus on wealth over the gospel.
In a fiery statement, Damina said Komaiya prioritises money above spiritual values and has used his followers’ contributions to build personal wealth.
Damina argued that true Christianity is grounded in godliness with contentment, noting that “we brought nothing into this world and it is certain we will take nothing out of this world.”
He added that Komaiya’s insistence on associating with wealthy people while disparaging the poor contradicts the core principles of the faith.
The pastor also referenced Komaiya’s early life, claiming that while he initially struggled financially, he continued to collect money from followers and now uses his wealth to impress the rich.
Damina warned that such behaviour promotes a culture of materialism and spiritual emptiness among congregants.
The statement has sparked heated debate online, with social media users weighing in on the controversy, the ethics of prosperity preaching, and the accountability of religious leaders in Nigeria.

@Compatriot commented: “It’s painful that most people who comment are poor and still will remain poor. Life is this, whatever you support and believe in is what will come to you. And you have only on earth to achieve that. Heaven is not a poor place.”
