A controversial voicenote of Destiny Boy’s mother allegedly placing a curse on the Afrofuji singer has surfaced online following his tragic passing. The singer passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

He was 22 years old and had welcomed his first child just months before his death. Fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry have since flooded social media with condolences and tributes.

The Voicenote Sparks Shock and Debate

In the audio clip, Destiny Boy’s mother was heard claiming that he would never succeed in life again.

She referenced personal sacrifices she said she made while raising him, alleging that his behaviour had been disrespectful.

She went further, claiming that even if other musicians were being paid ₦1 million for performances, Destiny Boy would struggle to earn ₦50,000. She instructed him to inform his herbalists about the curse.

In the recording, she said: “Destiny, if all successful musicians do to their mums the way you do to me, that is the only way you can escape this curse. You will never succeed in life again, and whatever you lay your hands on shall not prosper.

“If they are offering other musicians N1 million for shows, hardly will they offer you N50k. It is because you have money that you could send 300k to your wife.

“When you don’t have money again, then you will know you have offended me. Start calling your babalawos that I have placed a curse on you. What have you ever bought for me? You never gave me 50k, you useless child.”
