“You don’t have ₦10m but you’re looking…” – Lady sparks debate, questions men’s dating standards

A Nigerian lady has sparked conversations online after sharing her opinion on money, relationships, and modern dating expectations.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, she questioned people who seek love despite not being financially stable, asking who they expect to bear the burden in such relationships.
In her words, she said:
“Even you that doesn’t have up to ₦10m in your account is looking for love, who do you want to suffer? Who you wan suffer? If it were to be your child, will you allow her date a man that doesn’t have up to ₦10m in his account? You go allow your daughter?”
According to her, financial stability should be a key factor when choosing a partner, as relationships often come with responsibilities that require money to sustain.
Her comments have since triggered debates online, with many Nigerians sharing different opinions on whether financial stability should be a major factor in choosing a partner.
While some agreed with her stance, others argued that love and compatibility should not be entirely based on money or financial status.
Some reactions from social media follows:
One user commented, “Some of you just want comfort, not love. In this harsh economy, abeg rest.” Another added, “This one go cause fight for comment section 😂.”
