Lady shares a candid account of her past relationship experience, warning women against being financially dependent while dating.
In a viral video, the woman advised young ladies to prioritise financial independence and self-development before committing to relationships.
According to her, being broke and emotionally invested in a partner can leave a woman vulnerable, powerless, and easily mistreated.
Drawing from her personal experience in 2019, she recounted how she abandoned her acting career and other pursuits after meeting her ex-boyfriend, who discouraged her from working and growing professionally.
She said she became fully focused on the relationship, travelling frequently to see him and making him the centre of her life.
She explained that when the relationship ended abruptly, just before her ex travelled abroad, she was left heartbroken, unemployed, and financially stranded.
According to her, the experience took a heavy emotional toll, and it took her nearly two years to fully recover.

“The worst thing you can do to yourself as a girl is to be broke and be in a relationship. I really pity you. This is what I mean by being broke. You do not have a job. You don’t have what you’re doing. No business. Nothing. All you just do is have a boyfriend. Go to see him. Make out with him. You don’t get work. Oh, my sister. I’m talking from experience because this happened to me in 2019 and I learned my lessons from there. I was dating this my ex. Before I met him, I had something I was doing, but it wasn’t really that stable. When I met him, he stopped me from doing those things. My work. He didn’t want me to go back into acting because I loved acting. If you knew me back then, you know that I used to go for jobs, filming and everything. He stopped me. He said it’s not good. I’m going to turn this. You know? when you are with a man that is not good for you he’s just going to give you stupid reasons to not want to do things that would make you a better human i literally stopped everything that i was meant to do i focused on my ex he was my job at that time i always go to visit him because he doesn’t stay in lagos so i always travel to see him we cannot stay one week without seeing each other so it was basically all about him i left myself One thing about men, they are always going to choose themselves first, second, and third. When this guy chose himself and traveled out, before he traveled out, he already made plans and he broke up with me before he traveled out. So imagine someone broke up with you. You’re broke. You don’t have money. You’re still going through heartbreak. Then, because you’re…”
