Woman shares her father’s reaction after she got pregnant out of wedlock

A young Nigerian woman has shared a deeply personal story about how her father’s unexpected reaction to her pregnancy changed the course of her life.

Her experience, now gaining attention online, highlights family understanding, cultural values, and the emotional struggles many young women face.

The woman recounted how she tried to hide her first pregnancy from her father, fearing his reaction. However, events unfolded in a way she never imagined, leading to acceptance, marriage, and a new chapter in her life.

A Secret That Could Not Stay Hidden

According to her narration, her father had already begun to suspect something even before she realised he was watching closely.

She said: “If you get belle, no go hide commot am oooh, those are the words my dad told me when i was pregnant with my first son and to think that i was trying to hide the pregnancy from my dad not knowing that this man has been observing me.”

She explained that before her father made that statement, he had given her money to go for a medical check-up. When she returned, she told him she had malaria.

So before then my dad gave me money to go for checkup so when i go back i told him that i had malaria so he was like he wants to see the test results i told him that oh i didn’t know that it was important i threw it away i didn’t know you’re going to ask for it i threw it away.

Her father, however, continued to question her calmly, asking for her medication.

He looked at me he said okay where where are your medication where’s the medicine they gave you i told him i don’t like taking medicine i only took injection and i’m going to take a second one tomorrow.”

Father’s Quiet Observation

She revealed that her father had been observing her behaviour closely without confrontation.

He said okay i didn’t know that my dad was observing me not until he was going out one day and i should be around three to four months pregnant no one knew that i was pregnant in that house except my second elder sister.”

On that day, everything changed when her father spoke directly to her.

My dad was waiting on that day and i was in the living room and he was coming to my direction and he said Queenette if you get belly no go hide commot am oooh.”

She described those words as life-changing.

You see those words? It was like a miracle. Those were the words I needed. Because how can I tell my dad, look at him in the face, that I am pregnant?”

Confession and Acceptance

At the time, she was just 21 and had recently graduated, making the situation even more difficult for her.

“I was 21. I just graduated from school. How the hell do I even begin? Like, how am I supposed to tell him that, that I’m pregnant?”

She said she immediately broke down and confessed.

Immediately, I ran to him and I was on my knees and I was apologizing, telling him that I don’t know how I was supposed to tell him. And he was like, get up.”

Her father’s response surprised her.

And he was like, I know. I know. Even before you know, I knew you were pregnant. And there’s a way he said it. He said, I don’t know the children where I was born. There’s a way he said it, Shah.”

Marriage Arrangement and Family Decision

The woman added that her father even shared a moment that confirmed his suspicions.

So he was like, there’s a day he came to the house and he saw a child at my back. Like I was backing a child. I said, okay. And that was how that pregnancy review came out.”

Following the revelation, her father requested to meet the man responsible.

Just like that. And I requested to see my husband. They talked and he said they have to pay my dowry before I give birth to the child. If not, the child will answer his name.”

This led to her marriage shortly after.

That was how I got married. I’ve been married now for seven years with three children by God’s grace and his mercy. And that is how I became the woman that I am today.”

A Prediction That Came True

She also shared another surprising moment during her pregnancy.

And then again, when I was 6 to 7 months pregnant, he just got back home. I was the one that opened the gates for him. And he looked at me again and he said… Now, boy, you won’t burn him.”

Her father went further to choose a name for the unborn child.

You go name him Perry Sin because my dad’s name is Perry, Perry Atiti. I looked at him. I said, guess what? Four to five months later, I gave birth to a boy.”
