Woman narrates experience as pregnancy paralyzes her for five months

A woman, Barbara Annobil, has shared a deeply emotional account of how she became paralyzed for nearly five months during pregnancy, leaving her completely dependent on her husband for care.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Annobil revealed that the paralysis struck unexpectedly, preventing her from walking or working.

At the time, she was a graduate midwife completing her national service.

She recounted that her husband took on full responsibility for her well-being, saying, “He would bathe me before going to work, clean, cook, wash the dishes, everything. At one point, he even quit his job to take care of me.”

I remember when I got paralyzed and I was pregnant for almost five months. I wasn’t able to walk, and I didn’t even know I was pregnant,” she said.

Annobil described the moment her mobility returned as sudden and miraculous. “There was a time I wanted to use the washroom. He tried to help me, but I told him I wanted to sit on the couch. I felt something, and then I was able to walk again.”

On how she delivered her child, she said, “I had to go through CS. I’m thankful I’m alive and she’s alive.”

Her story has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users praising her husband’s dedication and resilience during the challenging period.
