“Why I don’t mention Jesus in my Songs – Shola Allyson breaks silence, says ‘Jesus didn’t ask her to do PR for him’

Nigerian singer Shola Allyson has broken silence about her lyrical choices, revealing the reasons she rarely references Jesus in her music.

Singer Clarifies Her Musical Identity

During a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Shola Allyson stated that she has never presented herself as a gospel singer.

“I’m not a religious singer. As I am, I have never introduced myself as a gospel singer. My name is Shola Allyson. I’m a singer,” she said, explaining that her focus is on creating music inspired by her personal convictions rather than conforming to religious expectations.

No PR for Jesus

Responding to critics who expected her to mention Jesus in her songs, Allyson emphasized that her music is not meant to serve as public relations for Him.

“Jesus did not instruct us to mention His name in songs, nor did Jesus ask us to do PR for Him,” she added.

Marriage Insights: Living Apart

Allyson also opened up about her personal life, revealing that her marriage to Toyin Obaniyi, which began in 2003, is far from the fairy tale image often assumed by fans.

She revealed that although she is still legally married and has three children with her husband, she now lives in a separate home.

Marriage has been a big challenge. I hear people talk about joy in marriage, but I have never experienced it,” she said. “I can do anything for a man as long as he does not maltreat me.”

Shola Allyson’s explanation sparked reactions online, with fans expressing mixed opinions online.
