Why I do not like to ‘form’ like other artists – Davido

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has said he approaches fame differently from many entertainers, attributing his confidence to his upbringing and personal beliefs.

Speaking about his personality, Davido said he does not believe in excessively “packaging” or distancing himsel‎f from people simply because he is a celebrity.

According to the singer, while many artists are expected to maintain an air of mystery, he considers himself “a different kind of person.”

Addressing the notion of “see finish”, a Nigerian expression suggesting that over-familiarity can reduce respect, Davido said he is not worried about it, expressing confidence that his success will continue regardless.

The award-winning artist also reflected on his upbringing, explaining that he grew up in a large family as the youngest of five children and shared a home with many cousins, an environment he said made him accustomed to always being around people.

“I’m a different kind of person. Normally, artists are meant to package and form, but God has blessed me. What works for me might not work for others. Nigerians call it see finish, but my star will always shine. I grew up in a family with a lot of people. I’m the youngest of 5 kids. I grew up with my cousins in the house, so I’ve always had people around me…”
