Who is Taiwo Oyedele? Newly Appointed Minister of State for Finance

Taiwo Oyedele (b. June 18, 1975) is a Nigerian economist, accountant, and public policy expert. Taiwo Oyedele is the newly appointed minister of state finance by President Bola Tinubu.
On Tuesday March 3rd, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka.
The President also reassigned Anite-Uzoka to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, giving her her third ministerial post under the current administration.
Taiwo Oyedele Biography

He was born in Ondo State and raised in Ikaram, Akoko. He earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology and a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
He earned executive education degrees from the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Career
Oyedele’s career has included various major positions in both the corporate and public sectors. He worked with PwC for 22 years, starting in 2001 and advancing to become the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. During this time, he also served as Vice Chairman of the Federal Ministry of Finance’s National Tax Policy Committee, where he helped to implement national tax reforms.
His contributions to regional policy include acting as Chairman of the West Africa Union of Tax Institutes (WAUTI) High-Level Think-Tank on the ECOWAS Integration Project. He is also the Thematic Lead for the Fiscal Policy and Planning Commission, and Chairman of the West Africa Debt Management Roundtable under the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
He also gave expert advice to the World Bank and serves as the Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s Taxation and Fiscal Policy Faculty Board.
He was the Dean of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria’s Faculty of Direct Taxation (FIDT). He left PwC in July 2023 and was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
Under his guidance, the group advocated establishing a unified Nigerian Revenue Service to replace numerous existing tax agencies, to raise Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio from around 10% to at least 18% within three years.

In May 2025, the Senate enacted four tax reform bills based on the committee’s recommendations, including legislation to establish the Nigeria Revenue Service and revise VAT and petroleum royalties regulations.
Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Lagos, and a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School. He is the founder of Impact Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to social impact and youth empowerment.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the Nigeria Leadership Initiative.
He also serves on the Global Governing Council of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Global Tax Forum, and the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council.
President Bola Tinubu has proposed Dr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, to be Minister of State for Finance. Oyedele succeeds Dr. Doris Anite-Uzoka, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, her third position in the administration.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President sent a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday, conveying Oyedele’s nomination for confirmation.
