“What was my crime?” – Man sparks reactions after refusing ex N500k for father’s treatment

A man has sparked widespread discussions online after explaining why he refused to give his ex-girlfriend N500,000 for her father’s medical treatment.

The story, shared by @GloriousGod01 on X, formerly Twitter, quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions across the platform.

How It Started

The incident occurred while they were still dating. During a weekend visit, he asked his girlfriend to help wash his clothes, but she declined, saying she had never washed any man’s clothes, not even her father’s.

She added that he had hands and could continue doing his laundry the way he did before they met. He accepted her response without argument.

The N500k Request

Sometime later, the ex-girlfriend called in tears, explaining that her father had been rushed to the hospital and she urgently needed N500,000 for treatment.

The man refused the request, saying he had never given any woman money for her father’s treatment before and suggested she seek help elsewhere. She reportedly blocked him immediately afterward.

Sharing the story online, he wrote; “While dating my ex, she came over one weekend and I politely asked her to help wash my clothes. She replied that she had never washed any man’s clothes, not even her father’s, and told me I had hands and should keep doing it the way I did before we met. Then one evening she called in tears because her dad had been rushed to the hospital and she needed 500k from me. I told her I couldn’t, as I had never given any woman 500k for her father’s treatment before, and suggested she get help elsewhere. She blocked me on the spot. What was my crime?
