“What have you done as a citizen?” — Canada-based Nigerian blasts those criticising Tinubu

A Nigerian woman based in Canada has stirred debate online after defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a viral video, urging citizens to reflect on their own actions before criticising the government.

In the widely shared clip, the lady questioned why many Nigerians focus on asking what the president has achieved instead of examining their responsibilities as citizens.

She argued that national development requires both leadership effort and public discipline.

Citizen Responsibility Sparks Debate

The woman criticised what she described as hypocrisy among some Nigerians, claiming that many people engage in corrupt practices while condemning government officials.

She said, “What have you done as a citizen? … The same you that bribe people to just get out of situations?”

According to her, meaningful change in Nigeria cannot happen overnight. She stressed that transformation is a gradual process that requires patience and understanding from the public.

She also challenged critics to stay informed, urging them to follow the news and carry out proper research before forming opinions about government performance.

“Change Takes Time,” She Says

Defending the current administration, the woman insisted that President Tinubu is working through a process that will eventually bring positive change to the country.

She dismissed expectations of immediate results, saying such beliefs are unrealistic.

“Everything has process,” she said, adding that those expecting sudden transformation are ignoring how development works globally.

The woman went further to describe Tinubu as “the best president of all time,” maintaining strong support for his leadership despite ongoing public criticism.

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her stance on patience and civic responsibility, while others continue to question the government’s performance amid economic challenges.
