“We should not be seeing the lines of your panties” — Pastor advises female members

Senior Pastor of Global Impact Church, Yemi Davids, has urged female worshippers to embrace modest dressing, warning that revealing outfits in church can create the wrong impression and distract fellow congregants.
Speaking during a recent church service, Davids expressed concern over what he described as an increasing trend of inappropriate dressing among some women attending worship gatherings.
The cleric said he had observed situations where tight-fitting clothes and short tops exposed underwear lines and body contours, which he believes are not suitable for a place of worship.
Concern Over Appearance in Church
According to him, Christians should take responsibility for their appearance before leaving home, especially when attending church services.
“We should not be seeing the lines of your panties. It’s not right. Check yourself before leaving your house,” Davids said.
He lamented that some female worshippers wear outfits that expose too much of their bodies, making them visible even to people seated at the back of the church.
“I’m appalled to see somebody come to church with everything so tight. The top is only to your waist, and people sitting at the back can see everything. It’s not okay,” he stated.
Davids argued that the way people dress often influences how they are perceived by others.
“What you are willing to show can make it appear as though you are willing to share it. It creates a certain impression,” he said.
Impact on Perception and Relationships
The pastor further suggested that revealing dressing could affect how some men view women who may be seeking serious relationships.
“Sometimes, when a man sees a woman revealing everything, it may even affect his decision to approach her for marriage. You begin to look like a public spectacle because everyone can see your underwear,” he remarked.
He stressed that private parts should remain covered, especially in a worship environment.
“Don’t expose your private parts. Don’t do that. You’re coming to church,” he added.
Men Also Have Responsibilities
Addressing criticisms that women are often the focus of conversations about modesty, Davids acknowledged that men also have a duty to exercise self-control.
“Some people ask, ‘Why aren’t they telling the men to discipline themselves?’ Yes, men should discipline themselves,” he said.
However, he appealed to women not to make that responsibility more difficult through their mode of dressing.
“But please, don’t destroy our discipline anointing. Don’t weaken us. What we battle with outside the church is already more than enough. We should not come into church and see the same thing,” he added.
Call for Modesty Beyond Church
Davids said modest dressing should not be limited to church services alone but should also be reflected in workplaces and other public settings.
“Even in your office, you are a Christian. What is that?” he asked.
The cleric revealed that his concerns became more apparent after sitting among members of the congregation rather than remaining on the altar.
“During service, I am usually focused on the altar and the stage. But when I sat among the congregation, I saw unspeakable things,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, Davids said he felt compelled to address the issue from a fatherly standpoint.
“I think I need to address it as a father,” he stated, while urging female congregants to embrace modesty and uphold values that reflect their Christian faith.
