We are highly disappointed by Gov Mbah’s defection to APC – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed disappointment over the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, described Mbah’s move as unfortunate, noting that the party expected more loyalty and commitment from its elected officials.

Ologunagba urged serving PDP governors to remain steadfast and recognise their responsibility as leaders entrusted with political power by the electorate.

“The PDP is utterly disappointed by those actions, having regard to what we know behind the scene. But having said that, people have a right to decide what they want to do; the consequences can follow,” he stated.

He emphasised that the mandate given to them by the people was on the platform of the PDP and should not be taken lightly.

According to him, the party remains focused on rebuilding its structure nationwide and will continue to promote internal discipline and unity among its members.

Ologunagba noted that the PDP was aware of certain internal saboteurs working to undermine the party’s progress and unity.

He, however, expressed optimism that the forthcoming national convention, slated to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November, would mark a turning point for the party.

According to him, the convention would serve as a platform to rebuild the PDP from the ground up, strengthen its internal democracy, and reposition it ahead of future elections.

He added that the leadership of the party remains committed to restoring the confidence of Nigerians by addressing internal challenges and reinforcing its values of accountability and inclusiveness.
