“Waiting on the Lord is the hardest thing ever” — Lady opens up on regret and hardship

A woman has sparked widespread discussion on social media after openly sharing her frustration over life choices, patience, and the realities she now faces as a struggling single mother.
In an emotional post that has resonated with many, the lady reflected on her decision to avoid certain lifestyles while in school, believing it was morally wrong, only to later watch her peers attain financial stability and marriage.
According to her, many of her former schoolmates engaged in activities she chose to stay away from, hoping that perseverance and faith would eventually pay off.
Years later, she says the outcome has left her questioning her choices, as she battles financial hardship while raising a child.
Her post has attracted sympathy, criticism and reflection, especially among young women navigating similar moral and economic pressures.
In September 2024, similar testimonies went viral online, with women sharing regrets and realities tied to decisions made during their university years.
“I refused to join them because I thought it wasn’t good”
“Waiting on the Lord is the hardest thing ever. When I was in school, most of my friends were into runs, packages and olosho or whatever they call it, but I didn’t join them. I thought it wasn’t good, so I stayed on my own, believing things would work out differently,” she said.
Comparing outcomes fuels emotional pain
The woman said watching her peers progress has deepened her worries about the future.
“Now most of them are married to rich guys, some are abroad, married with children and here I am struggling, with a child and no money. This is my biggest worry.”
Her confession has reignited conversations around faith, delayed gratification, and the harsh economic realities facing young Nigerians.
