Viral UBA graduate offered ₦500k, VIP trip and ambassadorial deal after Tony Elumelu incident

The UBA graduate who went viral after addressing businessman Tony Elumelu by his first name has received an offer of ₦500,000, a VIP trip and an ambassadorial deal following the controversy.

The offer was announced on Facebook by Ossai Ovie Success, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media to the Delta State Governor.

UBA Graduate Offered ₦500k Support

In a Facebook post, Ossai said he was offering the young woman ₦500,000 in cash support as well as a complimentary VIP trip to the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit.

“To the UBA young lady that was in the news, I’m offering you ₦500,000 cash + a complimentary VIP trip to the Delta Social Media Summit 4th Edition holding on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park Opposite Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba, Delta State.”

According to him, the package would cover her trip, accommodation and participation at the event.

Package Includes Flight, Hotel and VIP Access

Ossai listed the benefits being offered to the graduate, including:

  1. ₦500,000 cash support
  2. Flight tickets to Asaba
  3. Five-star hotel accommodation
  4. A guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State
  5. VIP access to the summit on Thursday, August 27, 2026
  6. A brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit

‘The Internet Can Be Harsh’

Ossai acknowledged the backlash the young woman has faced since the incident went viral, noting that online criticism can have serious effects.

“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real and words cut deep.”

He acknowledged that the graduate had made a mistake but appealed to the public not to continue attacking her.

“She made a mistake but we don’t need to torment her daily, she needs our support.”

The Delta State government aide also thanked Elumelu for correcting the graduate during the viral encounter.

“Thank you Mr Tony Elumelu for pointing out the needed correction that will further strengthen respect in our society.”

He said the young woman would be given an opportunity to share her story and turn the experience into something positive.

Ossai appealed to anyone who knows the graduate to encourage her to contact him.

He added:
