Vink admits Arokodare has exceeded expectations at Ajax

Former Ajax midfielder Marciano Vink has admitted he did not expect Tolu Arokodare to make such an immediate impact at the Dutch club, praising the Nigerian striker’s technical ability.
Arokodare joined Ajax from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan during the summer, with the Amsterdam club having an option to sign him permanently.

The 25-year-old has quickly become an important attacking option, scoring five goals across competitions since his arrival.
Vink impressed by Arokodare’s technique
Speaking on ESPN’s Dit was het Weekend, Vink highlighted a chance Arokodare created for himself, controlling the ball on his chest before attempting to finish with his left foot.

Although the effort went wide, Vink was more impressed by how the striker handled the ball in a tight area.
“But that is really impressive, in tight space for such a big and strong guy,” Vink said, as quoted by Voetbalprimeur.
“It’s a good thing the ball didn’t go straight into the top corner, because then it would be the goal of the year. That whole move reveals so much footballing class.”
The former Ajax midfielder believes Arokodare’s physical presence makes his technical execution even more impressive.
Nigerian striker exceeding expectations
Vink also acknowledged that Arokodare has made a stronger start than he anticipated after moving to Ajax.
“I didn’t expect him to make such an immediate impact,” he said.
The former midfielder believes there is still room for improvement, particularly when Arokodare is attacking aerial balls.
“Only the heading could be a bit better, but that move reveals a lot. He can really play football well for such a strong, big player,” Vink added.
